A big thank you goes to LBA member Kelly Beasley, Assistant Director at Delmar Gardens of Gwinnett (DG). First DG is a family-owned business that focuses on the needs of senior living. The Lawrenceville location incudes independent living apartments, assisted-living and skilled nursing care. The campus has a large wooded setting. The campus buildings feature large open multi-purpose spaces where in addition to resident activities, events such as an annual After-Hours by the Gwinnett Chamber are hosted.
Residents can participate in an Ambassador program to help facilitate events. We were greeted by a delightful resident named Virginia, who in addition to directing us to our party, provided us with information on her experience at DG. We were able to secure the perfect band from the list of musicians that provide entertainment at DG. Alan J & Friends covered many favorites for our cruise themed event, including Jimmy Buffett, Jim Morrison and Neil Diamond.
DG provided a delicious pasta bar, beverages and dessert which was also what had been on the lunch menu for the residents that day. Thank you to the following businesses for providing door prizes: Hope Springs Distillery, Sweet Point Bakery & Cafe, Nancy Tawes Photography, Insite To Web, and Print Magic Printing.
The highlight of the evening was a Hawaiian Shirt Contest. The Hawaiian shirt wearing men and one lady modeled their island ensembles and we voted by handclap. The lady (Pearl Kala) struck a sassy pose leading to a roar of applause and winning the 1910 Public House gift card. The annoyed fellas got over their disappointment quickly.
Thank you again to DG for sharing your outstanding facility for our event.
